According to analysis from Clarksons Research, the analytical arm of shipbroker Clarksons, approximately 8 million barrels of oil are currently moving through the Strait of Hormuz each day. This brings the total volume of Middle Eastern crude exports to about 13.5 million barrels per day.
Prior to the onset of the conflict, daily oil flows through the strait stood at roughly 15 million barrels, with total Middle Eastern crude outflows reaching 18 million barrels per day. Despite significant disruptions, Steve Gordon, Managing Director of Clarksons Research, noted that the energy market continues to demonstrate resilience in moving oil to market, thanks to the logistical flexibility provided by the shipping sector.
Adding to global supply, other producing nations such as Brazil have increased their exports by around 750,000 barrels per day. However, the situation remains fraught with risk as attacks within the Middle East grow more frequent, and the United States has cautioned that the conflict could extend for a longer duration. Macroeconomic indicators also warrant close and careful monitoring.
