On September 13, the daughter of renowned host Jing Yidan released an obituary announcing her passing. She had suffered an acute cerebral hemorrhage at her home in Harbin in June 2026 and was hospitalized in Beijing for treatment before passing away on September 13.

In 1988, Jing Yidan joined China Central Television, serving as a reporter, editor, host, and broadcast instructor. In 1993, she began hosting 'Yidan Topics', the first television program on Chinese television named after an individual. Subsequently, she went on to host 'Focus Report' for over two decades, a role that solidified her legacy in Chinese broadcast journalism and earned her the prestigious Golden Microphone Award three consecutive times.

A separate report detailed an incident involving a Chinese couple in Chile who were taken to a fake police station and extorted for 2.13 million yuan. The scam involved impostors posing as police officers, actual law enforcement, and a former prosecutor, creating a deception more improbable than fiction.

Her career spanned more than thirty years in broadcasting, during which she became one of the most recognizable faces in Chinese television journalism. Her work on 'Focus Report' particularly stood out for its investigative depth and commitment to public interest, making her a trusted figure among viewers nationwide.

Her contributions to Chinese media were recognized through numerous awards and honors, with the Golden Microphone Award being the most notable. The award, considered the highest honor in Chinese broadcasting, was presented to her three times, reflecting her consistent excellence and influence in the field over two decades of dedicated service.
