GenScript Biotech (01548.HK) released an announcement on Friday (September 11) detailing its plans to raise funds through a share placement. The company intends to place 77.126 million new shares at a price of HK$30.50 per share, targeting gross proceeds of approximately HK$2.3523 billion and net proceeds of around HK$2.3271 billion.

The placement price represents a discount of approximately 4.68% to the previous trading day's closing price of HK$32.00. The placement shares account for roughly 3.50% of the company's issued share capital as of the announcement date, and about 3.38% of the enlarged issued share capital following the allotment and issuance of the placement shares (assuming no change in the issued share capital between the announcement date and the settlement date).

The net proceeds from the placement are primarily designated for strategic purposes: approximately 70% will be allocated to expanding the group's AIDD platform capacity and infrastructure (including automated high-throughput wet laboratory facilities, related equipment, and laboratory upgrades), about 20% will be directed toward research and development related to the AIDD platform, digital workflow integration, and global business expansion, and the remaining 10% will be used for general corporate purposes and working capital.

The placement is being managed by Citigroup and JPMorgan. This article is for informational purposes only and does not constitute investment advice; investors assume their own risk when acting upon it.
