The latest batch of eight professional categories has been unveiled, introducing 11 new occupations and 23 new job types. Which sectors face the most significant talent gaps, and which roles are suitable for everyday individuals to pursue? Here is a detailed breakdown.

The 11 newly designated occupations include digital twin engineering technicians, embodied intelligent robot application technicians, industrial product digital modelers, sports data analysts, microgrid administrators, hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing workers, electrolytic water hydrogen production workers, incense crafting artisans, ship shoreline management engineering technicians, satellite navigation equipment installers, and corporate sustainability planners.

Meanwhile, the 23 new job types span a wide range of fields. These include community workers, fire rescue responders, lottery sales staff, airport clearance patrol officers, raw sugar custodians, low-altitude logistics personnel, food production safety officers, catering food safety inspectors, food sales safety supervisors, low-altitude intelligent network system administrators, intelligent agent developers, construction project labor specialists, new energy vehicle inspectors, aging-friendly renovation designers, sports venue safety officers, fresh-cut flower processors, smart furniture installers, ice and snow sculptors, oil residue extraction unit operators, polyglycolic acid unit operators, embodied intelligent robot data collectors, embodied intelligent robot trainers, and corporate sustainable investment analysts.

This latest release includes five digital occupations and three green occupations, bringing the national totals to 113 digital occupations and 142 green occupations respectively. In the modern services category, the new roles serve both enterprise development and industrial upgrading, such as sustainability planners, airport clearance patrol officers, and intelligent agent developers, while also addressing public quality-of-life needs through positions like incense crafting artisans, smart furniture installers, and fresh-cut flower processors.

The reason these have become recognized occupations stems from their workforce having reached a certain scale with vast future growth potential. In short, there is a significant shortage of personnel. For example, the embodied intelligence industry currently faces a talent gap of one million workers, and demand for embodied intelligent robot application technicians has surged 30% year over year.

With over 43.97 million new energy vehicles now on the roads but fewer than 100,000 experienced certified technicians available, the role of new energy vehicle inspector has become particularly sought after. In the eldercare sector, where China's population aged 60 and above exceeds 323 million, aging-friendly renovation designers perform essential tasks such as modifying bathrooms and installing safety rails for seniors.

With such abundant opportunities, how can individuals enter these fields? Industry experts suggest that those with a background in automotive electrical work could consider technical roles like heavy vehicle repairers or smart furniture installers. For those eager to venture into emerging sectors, low-altitude logistics personnel and intelligent agent developer positions offer promising entry points. Individuals with nimble hands and strong practical skills might explore roles such as incense crafting artisans, fresh-cut flower processors, or ice and snow sculptors.

To support the growth of these new occupations, the government is advancing the "Skills Illuminate the Future" initiative, focusing on low-altitude economy, new energy vehicles, artificial intelligence, and eldercare services, with plans to subsidize training for over 10 million people annually.

China has now cumulatively released eight batches totaling 121 new occupations. What characteristics define these roles? From a classification perspective, the largest increase has been in social production and life services personnel, totaling 72 positions or 60% of the total. Professional and technical personnel, along with manufacturing-related workers, each account for 21 positions, representing 17% respectively.

By industry sector, modern services and advanced manufacturing dominate the new additions, accounting for 43% and 34% respectively. Looking at emerging and future industries, digital occupations and green occupations have expanded steadily year by year, now standing at 58 and 20 positions, representing 48% and 17% respectively.

Going forward, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security will actively identify and cultivate new occupation sequences based on emerging economic and social trends, develop fresh employment growth points, and continue expanding overall employment capacity.
