Yunnan Energy Investment Co., Ltd., the listed entity under the Yunnan Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, revealed on the evening of September 14 that it will move forward with the development of five wind farm projects, following a notice from its controlling shareholder. The initiative aims to seize strategic development opportunities and bolster the company's competitive edge, with two wholly-owned subsidiaries tasked to carry out the projects.

The five wind farms include the third-phase (Eastern and Western sections) and fourth and fifth-phase Tongquan wind farms in Malong District, along with the Wuxing wind farm in Huize County. Among these, the Eastern and Western sections of the third-phase Tongquan project hold the largest installed capacities, at 193.75 MW and 162.5 MW respectively.

According to the announcement, all five projects have been included in the first batch of new energy construction list for Yunnan Province in 2026. The combined installed capacity is projected to reach 599.95 MW, with each project slated for a construction period of 12 months. As of now, Yunnan Energy Investment has an operational new energy portfolio (comprising both wind and solar) totaling 2,754.86 MW, of which wind power accounts for 2,493.86 MW.

The company stated that the construction of these projects is set to further expand its new energy installed capacity, strengthen and optimize its new energy business, and support its strategic development goals while also contributing to local economic and social progress. Currently, preliminary work on the projects is underway, and they will still require approval from the board of directors or shareholders, as well as authorization from relevant regulatory authorities.

Where the initiative stands now, these projects are in their early planning stages, with no definitive timeline yet for final approvals or construction commencement.
