Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree extending the ban on Western agricultural product imports until the end of 2028, pushing the measure's expiration date back by nearly two years.

The newly signed order, issued on September 17, prolongs the validity of Presidential Decree No. 560 from 2014, shifting the ban's expiry from January 1, 2027, to December 31, 2028.

Originally enacted on August 6, 2014, the initial decree approved government-proposed countermeasures in response to Western sanctions. The restrictions prohibit importing select agricultural goods and food products from countries including the United States, the European Union, Canada, Australia, and Norway.

Since its introduction, Moscow has repeatedly extended the ban and adjusted both the list of affected nations and the range of covered commodities in response to evolving geopolitical conditions.
