China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs is pushing forward with a large-scale campaign to boost per-unit yields of major grain and oilseed crops, a move designed to accelerate the development of a diversified food supply system and secure stable, safe supplies of grain and key agricultural products. This initiative also aims to ensure urban and rural residents enjoy nutritious and healthy diets.
According to Song Danyang, Deputy Director and First-Level Inspector of the Market and Information Department under the ministry, the campaign supports the broader goal of expanding market access for quality agricultural products. The ministry will continue to host the China International Agricultural Trade Fair and organize promotional events that bring specialty local products, often called "earth specialties," into major consumption hubs such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Greater Bay Area.
These efforts are expected to open up broader markets for high-quality farm goods, helping farmers connect with consumers across the country while reinforcing the stability of the national food supply chain.
