Huanglong Town in Huaining County recently organized a cybersecurity awareness campaign centered on the theme "Cybersecurity for the People, Cybersecurity by the People," aiming to enhance residents' cybersecurity awareness and protection skills while fostering a secure and clean online environment. The initiative was jointly carried out by the town's New Era Civilization Practice Center, the Women's Federation, and the Justice Office.

During the event, volunteers engaged directly with residents to explain key laws and regulations, including the Cybersecurity Law of the People's Republic of China and the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China. They also provided detailed analyses of common threats such as online shopping scams, fraudulent customer service calls, and malicious links embedded in phishing attempts. Special attention was given to elderly residents, who received targeted sessions reminding them to avoid clicking on unfamiliar links, sharing personal or bank card information, trusting unsolicited calls, or downloading unverified applications. The goal was to help residents resist harmful online content and build a foundation of anti-fraud and cyber protection knowledge. Volunteers also addressed questions from the public regarding cybersecurity protection and online rights.

In total, the campaign distributed over 350 informational brochures, answered more than 30 on-site inquiries, and reached over 500 residents, effectively spreading knowledge about cybersecurity laws and fundamental practices. Moving forward, Huanglong Town plans to leverage the awareness week as a starting point to establish a long-term mechanism for cybersecurity education. The town intends to innovate its outreach methods, enrich the content, and expand its communication channels to better align with residents' cybersecurity needs. Ultimately, the objective is to create a clean and safe online space that encourages participation and shared responsibility, thereby reinforcing a strong cybersecurity foundation for the town's high-quality economic and social development.
