Jinli Sunshine International Agricultural Trade City held its grand opening ceremony on September 16 in Xianyang, Shaanxi Province, officially launching operations.
Xianyang Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor Jia Minliang attended the event and delivered a speech. Officials from the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce, the Xianyang municipal government, the Qindu District government, along with representatives from the Shaanxi Agricultural Products Logistics Association, project construction units, merchants, and local residents were all present to witness this modern agricultural product distribution hub in Northwest China begin operations.
The trade city is a key livelihood project designated at the provincial, municipal, and district levels. It spans a total area of 800 mu with an investment of nearly 2 billion yuan. Strategically located in the core section of the Greater Xi'an Airport Economic Zone, the project benefits from its proximity to the national backbone cold-chain logistics base and functional platforms of the Shaanxi Pilot Free Trade Zone, offering distinct geographic advantages.
Integrating smart cold chain systems, warehousing and distribution, production-to-market connectivity, and traceability inspection functions, the facility serves as a major component of the regional modern agricultural distribution network. Once fully operational, it is expected to generate annual transaction volumes of up to 15 billion yuan and create more than 100,000 jobs.
Tapping into the consumer market of over 18 million residents across the Xi'an-Xianyang metropolitan area, the project aligns with the upgrading trend of traditional wholesale markets relocating from urban centers. This move will significantly enhance the region's ability to collect, distribute, and safeguard agricultural supplies. Officials from Qindu District provided an overview of the project's construction support at the event.
In his remarks, Jia Minliang emphasized that the establishment and operation of the trade city represents a key step in improving the modern commercial distribution system, advancing rural revitalization, and boosting agricultural efficiency. He noted it also showcases the concrete achievements of Xianyang and Qindu in optimizing the business environment and stimulating commercial development. The project is of great significance in consolidating agricultural resources from Northwest China, bridging urban-rural circulation channels, and smoothing economic flows, positioning it as a vital engine for driving the transformation and upgrading of the wholesale agricultural industry across the city and the entire province, thereby supporting high-quality commercial and economic growth.
On opening day, a range of cultural performances and benefit-oriented activities were held on-site, drawing crowds of nearby residents to join the celebration.
