A straw collection and processing operation is running smoothly at the Linjiang cattle farm run by Guizhou Longtankou Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Development Co., Ltd. as of September 7. Previously, after harvesting corn, local villager Feng Shengyou from Linjiang Village in Jinhua Town, Fenggang County, Zunyi City, typically left most of the straw闲置 in the fields, a practice that was not only time-consuming and labor-intensive to handle, but also led to resource waste and environmental pollution. Now, he sellsall his straw to the Linjiang cattle farm, earning more than 4,000 yuan each year.

The farm currently houses about 1,500 beef cattle and requires a steady supply of roughage, consuming roughly 25 tonnes daily, according to farm manager Guo Bing. The operation has established long-term fixed-point purchases of corn straw from farmers in surrounding villages, effectively resolving issues related to feed shortages and high external sourcing costs. Compared to purchasing finished feed, this approach cuts feed expenses by about one-third annually.

During the autumn harvest season, the Linjiang farm continues to buy corn straw from nearby farmers under a clear and transparent pricing standard. Whole-plant corn straw is purchased at 560 yuan per tonne, while empty corn stalks are bought for 280 yuan per tonne, with a daily processing capacity ranging from 150 to 200 tonnes of straw.
