Elastic (ESTC) said Friday that it launched the serverless Elasticsearch Vector Database with optimized defaults to enable developers to create and ship vector search applications faster.

The new offering automates multiple parts of the retrieval pipeline when developing vector-based applications, expected to lower operational overheads, according to a statement.

The new database also combines optimized instance types and automatic quantization through Elastic's Better Binary Quantization, shrinking vector memory while keeping search fast and recall high, according to the company.

The new offering is available now on Elastic Cloud Serverless, the company said.
