Corbus Pharmaceuticals said top-line data from a study for an obesity treatment demonstrated statistically significant and clinically meaningful weight loss.

The clinical-stage company said Monday a 60-milligram dose of its CRB-913 drug showed a mean weight loss of 5% at 12 weeks in a Phase 1b trial.

The once-daily oral treatment also showed fewer gastrointestinal adverse events based on cross-trial comparison with published data of currently marketed oral GLP-1 drugs, the company said.

The data supports the treatment's potential to establish a new class of oral, nonincretin obesity medicines, the company said.

The company plans to work with the Food and Drug Administration on a clinical-development plan for the drug and expects to initiate a Phase 2 monotherapy study in the first half of 2027. The company said it is also evaluating the potential to combine CRB-913 with GLP-1 therapy.

Shares were up 5.2% to $8.54 in premarket trading.
