Meta Platforms (META) is planning to start deploying a new in-house AI chip in data centers in H1 2027, a step expected to reduce costs and energy use, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing an interview with Yee Jiun Song, vice president of engineering.
The company is testing its third-generation chip, MTIA 450, or Arke, while the next model, MTIA 500, or Astrid, is slated to complete design work in about a month and begin deployment by the end of 2027, the report said.
Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
