Charter Hall Group (ASX:CHC) is considered to be a potential acquirer of Abacus Group (ASX:ABG) after it recently raised its stake in the property company to just over 7% from about 5.9%, The Australian's DataRoom reported Sunday, citing sources close to Charter Hall.

Charter Hall believes Abacus Group is undervalued as its share price fell nearly 14% over the last month and more than 22% in the last six months, according to the report. Earlier this year, Abacus agreed to sell its shares in Abacus Storage Funds Management, the responsible entity of Abacus Storage King, as part of a plan to internalize Storage King's management functions.

Charter Hall and Abacus Group did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
