1230 ET - Underlying price pressures in Canada remain contained, and the share of categories in the consumer-price index continue to be benign, Nomura's Ruchir Sharma says. The economist says that despite higher input costs the pass through to consumer prices has been limited. "Overall, the August report suggests inflation remains subdued and close to the Bank of Canada's target," says Sharma, who continues to expect interest rates to remain on hold through 2026.
