Walmart (WMT) and nonprofit insurer SCAN Health Plan are collaborating to offer a co-branded Medicare Advantage plan to seniors, pending regulatory approval, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing SCAN's national general manager, Zachary Myers.

The plan will be available in two states, Myers reportedly said, with specific markets and financial terms yet to be disclosed.

Walmart's low prices and shopper data could help encourage healthier behaviors and reduce healthcare costs, Bloomberg reported, citing Myers.

If approved, the plan will be offered during the annual enrollment period beginning Oct. 15, with coverage starting Jan. 1, the report added.

Walmart did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
