Thailand plans to finalize terms of a US tariff agreement ahead of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's scheduled talks with US President Donald Trump later this week, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday, citing Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun.

The Asian nation could seek slightly lower tariff rates than the 12.5% imposed now on most covered exports, the report said.

The Thai prime minister is likely to speak with Trump around Sept. 17-18 to finalize tariff negotiations ahead of an official announcement, according to the report.
