NFI Group secured an $93 million order for 100 compressed natural gas buses from the Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority.

The bus and motorcoach manufacturer on Thursday said that its subsidiary, New Flyer of America, will provide 100 Xcelsior 40-foot compressed natural gas buses which will replace Metro's aging vehicles as it upgrades its facilities to expand CNG fueling capacity.

The purchase is supported by funding from special programs offered by the Federal Transit Administration, and will be added to New Flyer's firm backlog in the second quarter.
