The US has asked Brazil to reconsider the sale of Anglo American's nickel assets to MMG (HKG:1208) as part of talks aimed at easing tariffs on Brazilian goods, the South China Morning Post reported, citing two people familiar with the negotiations.

The request came during discussions over the 50% tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump on Brazilian imports, according to the report.

MMG and its parent China Minmetals are controlled by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.

The US Trade Representative's office did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
