BlackBerry Shares Rise on Design Win for Alloy Kore Software

BlackBerry shares rose Tuesday morning after the company said it secured the first design win for Alloy Kore, its software platform codeveloped with Vector Informatik.

Shares traded 1.8% higher at 12.20 Canadian dollars ($8.69), easing from an earlier high of C$12.95.

Coretura, a joint venture between Daimler Truck and Volvo Group, selected Alloy Kore for its software-defined commercial vehicles. Coretura will deploy the platform through its Vector Distribution to standardize core software and high-performance compute infrastructure across its commercial vehicle platform.

Alloy Kore is a software layer that combines with a real-time operating system with a preintegrated set of common automotive system services. It integrates essential software services, such as security and communication, directly into the operating system layer rather than piling on separate middleware, reducing processing workload and latency.

The deal marks the first commercial design win for Alloy Kore, a safety-certified vehicle software foundation.
